Bio

One of Australia’s strongest acting profiles, you may recognise Jacquie from the incredible Wentworth TV series – and currently in production – a major animation series for Netflix USA.

Many audio projects including commercials, narration, audio books and animation, start with lots of people – let’s call them clients – standing on a cliff looking out into the horizon where the finished product is. They know they have to start and leap off, keeping their head up and keeping their eyes towards the end product.

One thing is for sure, everyone wants a soft landing.

None could be softer than Jacquie Brennan. Soft in vocal style, gentle on the words and kind to the message that unfolds like a parachute before our ears. And what a glorious descent it is, all at a controlled pace. A little conversational over here for documentaries and narration, a little inquisitive over there for audio books and a bit more pace, colour and character for a commercial. But still with that trademark blanket-soft kindness applied when and where it’s required. From mining companies to medical break throughs, luxury cars to learning about finance and fast food, finally you come to rest on solid ground thankful for the deep cushioning effect of her voice.

Jacquie Brennan’s acting resume is unmatched. She has stage, television and film credits to her name that span over 30 years. Both here and overseas, there is nothing she has not turned her acting and voice skills to. Originally, like many performers, starting on stage then to television and film, it has brought her to the attention of both dramatic, animation and on-screen comedy producers, that know she is a trusted source of hard work and dedication at all times.

Jacquie’s inclusion to the roster of the female voices at Scout lets clients know, however nervous they may have been before they took that leap, their project is in the hands of a vocal professional.

Casting a voice is such a critical part of sound production, especially in my area of producing and recording multimedia projects. That’s why working with a voice artist who understands direction makes recording sessions a whole lot easier and more enjoyable. Being an accomplished actor, Jacquie contributes skills to a television or radio script that can make it work so much better for the client. There’s her versatile voice of course, but also an understanding of the importance of inflection, and getting those subtle nuances just right. I know animators enjoy working with Jacquie because of her sense of comedic timing and her ability to hit the mark with character voices. Jacquie is also very proficient at sight-reading and is a stickler for those basic principles of doing her homework and turning up on time. Even with bigger jobs like long-form documentaries and audio books, you know you’ll not only get a great read but the session will finish on time. From my side of the microphone, ‘talent’ means a great deal more than a distinctive voice, which is why working with Jacquie is always so rewarding.
