Paul Hughes is an experienced and highly-trained actor based in Sydney, Australia. Performing from his early teens as an actor and musician, he went on to a become a professional singer for much of his early-mid twenties before returning his focus solely to acting. At drama school Paul was described as “A character actor in a leading man’s body” and has enjoyed a varied career across comedy, horror, drama and romance.
Recent screen credits include feature films such as the hugely anticipated Absurdist Horror Comedy “Forever Young” (with Travis Jeffrey, Ayesha Madon, Socratis Otto) from AACTA award-winning Breathless Films and creature-feature horror “Cry Baby” from directed by Corey Pearson (‘Message Man’, ‘Harmony’). Paul’s TV credits include “Home & Away” (Channel 7), “The Messenger” (ABC) and Deadly Women (Discovery Channel). Short film credits include feature films “Lovelorn Lockdown” written and directed by Alex Proyas.
Paul is extremely adept at a wide range of authentic accents encompassing many Irish and UK dialects along with Australian, American and German accents to name a few. His extensive training includes a 12 month screen acting program at NIDA and he has also studied at length under esteemed LA based coach Lisa Robertson and at AMAW in Sydney.
Outside of work Paul’s favourite things include his rescue dog Bear, keeping very fit, his beloved Liverpool FC and spending an obscene amount of time nerding out on Films, TV and the theatre!
