Luke Mulquiney is an actor and filmmaker living in Sydney. He’s a graduate of the conservatory
program at Stella Adler Studio of Acting in New York and has continued working with the top
coaches from around the world including Larry Moss, Elizabeth Kemp, Mike Alfreds and Les
Chantery.
After many years acting making theatre in Melbourne, Luke’s first foray into making his own work
happened when he moved to Sydney with the Australian short film Giants, directed by award
winning director Eddy Bell, which he wrote the story for, produced and acted in. Giants went on to
much acclaim on the domestic and international festival circuit most notably winning the
Panasonic Lumix Award for Best Australian Short Film at the Academy Award qualifying Flickerfest
in 2022. The film went on to be nominated for Best Short Film at the 2022 Australian Academy of
Cinema & Television Arts (AACTA) Awards.
As a writer Luke is currently working on several projects, most notably his feature film with cowriter Charlie Faulkner One Day, One Week, One Month, One Year which has attracted the
attention of industry leader James Hewison; and feature film Removalists for director Kasimir
Burgess. He has also developing a road film focusing on the cost of living crisis with screenwriter
Shonty Fisher. Luke is mentored by Cannes winning filmmaker Michael Rowe (Camera D’Or 2009).
His upcoming short film, Beyond The Pale, which he wrote and is producing will be his first effort
as a director and is set to hit the festival circuit in 2026
