NATHAN Page is keen to return to the Adelaide stage for a remake of Alfred Hitchcock’s spy thriller The 39 Steps – but this time in town he hopes to avoid almost being shot by the police.
The Adelaide-trained Page recalls a bizarre incident in Hindley Street in 2000, when he was making his first feature film Sample People, with the likes of Joel Edgerton and Ben Mendelsohn. In rehearsals he had to run up and down the street with a pretend gun, ready to save the day as a falafel shop was being robbed. Unfortunately, someone called the police.
