Easy Tiger’s adaptation of Chris Hammer’s Treasure and Dirt stars Michael Dorman and Liv Hewson as big-city homicide detective Ivan Lucic and former local constable Nell Buchanan, respectively.
Set in the scorched, dust-choked opal mining town of Nulla, the story picks up with the brutal beheading of a local miner, leading Lucic into a labyrinthine case with no easy answers. Assigned to him is Buchanan (Hewson), who knows Nulla’s lawless, corrupt underbelly far better than he does. Together, they’re drawn into a strange, surreal underworld of secrets, greed, and old sins that won’t stay buried.
Dorman and Hewson are joined in the cast by Sarah Peirse, Thomas M. Wright, Mark Mitchinson, Eamon Farren, Kelton Pell, Steve Le Marquand, Arnijka Larcombe-Weate, Dean O’Gorman, Ling Cooper Tang, Elena Carapetis, Roman Mellis, Nathan Jones, Zane Blumeris, Bessie Holland, Kris McQuade, Glenda Linscott, and newcomer Evie Greay.
Shot in South Australia, the series was produced in association with the BBC and the South Australian Film Corporation. The creative team comprises producer Rebecca Summerton and director Madeleine Gottlieb, with EPs Ian Collie, Rob Gibson, and Matt Cameron, who is adapting the script, working alongside the ABC’s Rebecca Anderson and Rachel Okine. Sphere Abacus is handling worldwide distribution.
Treasure & Dirt will premiere Sunday, July 19 at 8.30pm on ABC TV, with all episodes available to stream on ABC iview.
