BRISBANE actor Ryan Johnson, who plays Rocco in Channel 9’s Underbelly, has two movies playing at London’s Barbican this weekend.
Johnson, 28, stars in the soon-to-be-released film Monkey Puzzle and last year’s Brisbane film All My Friends Are Leaving Brisbane, two independent films being shown at the London’s Australian film festival.
Monkey Puzzle, which opened last week at the Byron Bay film festival, is a thriller about friendship gone wrong in the wilds of the Blue Mountains.
The cast had to abseil and bushwalk to locations on the 26-day winter shoot.
Speaking on the Sydney set of a new series called Out of the Blue (for Southern Star and the BBC), Johnson says every day they were three to four hours walk from the unit base where all the cosy vans and cups of tea were.
